The Art of Soap, Done the Old-Fashioned Way
In a world of quick fixes and factory-made skincare, cold process soap stands out as a return to tradition, patience, and true craftsmanship. At Suffuse, we use the cold process method to create our soap, not because it’s easy, but because it’s worth it.
What Is Cold Process Soap?
Cold process soap is made by mixing natural oils and butters with a lye solution, which triggers a chemical reaction called saponification. This transforms the mixture into soap and glycerin, a natural humectant that draws moisture into the skin.
Once poured into molds, the soap is left to cure for at least 6 weeks. During this time, the water evaporates, the bar hardens, and the soap becomes milder and longer-lasting.
Why We Choose Cold Process
- Ingredient Control: We choose every oil, butter, and additive with intention - nothing artificial, nothing hidden.
- Natural Glycerin: Unlike commercial soap, we keep all the naturally formed glycerin for added skin hydration.
- Custom Skincare: Each bar is tailored with botanicals, clays, herbs, and fresh produce for specific skin needs.
- Longer-Lasting Bars: Proper curing makes our soaps harder, so they last longer and stay gentle.
Why It’s Better for Your Skin
Because cold process soap is rich in natural oils and butters, it doesn’t strip your skin like detergent-based commercial bars. The creamy lather cleanses gently without disrupting your skin’s natural barrier making it perfect for dry, sensitive, or acne-prone skin.
Made by Hand, With Intention
Each batch of Suffuse soap is hand-poured, hand-cut, and cured slowly in our studio. We don’t rush the process—and we don't use shortcuts like ready made bases or synthetic surfactants.
Cold process soap takes time, but your skin deserves the wait.
